The Rules of Dating
   Johnny Nguyen

well, looks like all your friends are now dating, let alone married, and it seems like nobody wants to even touch you with a ten foot pole by remote control. i believe it's time to reiterate the:

    1. The Wrong Timing
take it from me, even if you're so desperate the old lady next door with 20 cats is looking good, there are a couple rules one should abide by when NOT to date:
1. you're feeling sorry for yourself
2. saying "I NEED someone"
3. depressed or loss of someone
4. you need a place to live
5. rebound - fun as it may be, stay away!

or when it is the RIGHT time:
1. when life is good - friends, family, health, money
2. when you think you look good (haha, don't get cocky now)
3. your friends are also dating
4. you're in a new city - who better to sight see with!
5. when you're out of debt.

2. Is She the ONE?
ok, so you're feeling good now, so which girl is the lucky girl whose gonna have the pleasure of dating a stallion like you? well, here's a checklist to carry with you at all times:

  • physical attraction - ok, well it shouldn't be the first thing but you know and i know it's way up there so let's get it out of the way
  • compatible intelligence - blonde jokes aside, you've got to be able to understand each other. for example, when i say, "what's the multiplicative inverse of a binary conjugate primary number?" she'll say, "oh honey, it's one."
  • communication - "do you know where the remote control is?" "yes." she's a keeper.
  • honesty - "how do i look in these leather pants?" "better with them off." she's a keeper.
  • fun factor - make sure you both call fun the same thing. hopefully it's not math.
  • shared relationship goal - casual dating to commitment.
  • sexual orientation - you can never be sure nowadays.

3. ok, You're Ready, She Passes, but you're TOO SHY!
now it's understandable to be shy but the key is you've got to overcome it - with the right attitude.

  • practice smiling and making eye contact - don't flirt, just smile
  • talk to someone new once a week - practice makes perfect my boy!
  • play pretend - pretend she's your good friend already or you know her already - it'll help you get comfortable
  • be considerate - no lines. just be civil and humorous.
  • don't panic! - there's plenty more fishes should you screw up.
