The Movie: Barbershop 2

Release Date: February 6,
2004

The Players: Ice Cube,
Cedric The Entertainer,
Queen Latifah and Eve

  The Plot: The cast of
barbershop is back with
more comedy than the
first one! Only, this time,
queen Latifah joins the
cast.

My Hunch? The first Barbershop
was so funny, it’s in my DVD
collection, mostly because of
Cedric the Entertainer, even though all of them are great in it.
I do know one thing: One of the reasons I will see it is just to see
what Cedric has to say now!

  For Lovers? Not
exactly a romantic movie,
but it’s good for those
who love a good laugh!

The Movie: 50 First Dates

Release Date: February
13th, 2004

The Players: Adam
Sandler, Drew Barrymore,
and Sean Astin

The Plot: Sandler has to
make Barrymore fall in
love with him because
she has short-term
memory loss (Makes you
want to have short-term
memory, too!)
My Hunch? Drew and Adam
made a perfect couple in the movie The Wedding Singer, so
there’s no reason why this should
be any different.
For Lovers? Absolutely!
This movie is considered
a romantic comedy and it
comes out the day
before Valentine’s Day
(right on time!).

The Movie: Against The
Ropes

Release Date: February
20th, 2004

The Players: Meg Ryan,
Omar Epps, Joe Cortese
and Tim Daly

The Plot: Meg Ryan was
born in a family devoted
to boxing. She is
dedicated to look for
the next best boxer.
Her eye is caught by
Omar Epps, and she
is determined to make
him the best in the sport.
My Hunch?: The plot sounds
interesting and intriguing. Even
though Meg Ryan has not been
in the “Most Popular” list
recently, she is always one of
my favorite actresses. Omar
Epps is also a favorite of mine
in dramas like Juice. So the
acting is the main factor getting
my attention!
For Lovers?: Doubt it.
But I suggest you go
anyways if you don’t
have a Valentine to go
with you!

The Movie: Twisted

Release Date: February
27th, 2004

The Players: Ashley Judd,
Samuel L. Jackson, and
Andy Garcia

The Plot: Jackson has to
help former police officer
Judd, as she is
suspected of murdering
her former boyfriends.
My Hunch? It looks like a good
thriller with lots of twists and
turns. What I am sure of is Andy
Garcia being as hot as always
(Hola papi!).
For Lovers? Sure! Cute
actors, suspense, and
sex scenes... it can’t go
wrong for a little foreplay!

The Guru of Love: A Novel

The Author: Samrat Upadhyah

The Plot: A man in Kathmandu is married with children, but he feels empty, until he meets one of his new students, a 15-year-old mother who intrigues him. They have an intense affair, which scares the main character and tears him in two: either his family life, or his passionate life.

The Recommendation: This book has received four and a half out of five stars. It is highly recommended and people have fallen in love with the plot and its descriptiveness. “Deep and moving.”

Empress Orchid

The Author: Anchee Min

The Plot: A girl raised in poverty has a stroke of luck and becomes one of the many concubines of the Emperor during the Manchu dynasty. All of the concubines try desperately to give the Emperor a son to be the Empress, but she uses her smarts to become that Empress. But the dynasty is about to fall.

The Recommendation: All of the reviews call out to good directors, especially Oliver Stone, to make this book a movie and name it The Last Empress. That’s how good the critics think of this book.

Love Is The Drug

The Author: Sarahbeth Purcell

The Plot: A woman’s dad is dying. So she escapes reality by living her life in the 80s, taking ecstasy and sleeping with so-called “losers.”

The Recommendation: This book looks fun and those who have read it have rated it positively, with the exception of one or two negative points. The fun part is the character’s Top Ten Lists with plenty of four letter words that could be shocking!
